Program Description

FID promotes and advocates for the mainstreaming of good governance in all its programmatic areas. FID supports and promotes the building of capacity of urban and rural local communities affected by a number of challenges and policies to be their own advocates in bringing about positive change in their lives. FID promotes, protects and advocates for the rights of rural and urban poor citizens.

FID Uganda's Good Governance and Research program is dedicated to promoting transparency, accountability, and informed decision-making.

• Advocacy for policy reforms and good governance practices
• Research to inform evidence-based decision-making
• Capacity building for local leaders and community members
• Community engagement and participatory governance
• Capacity building for local leaders and service providers on good governance and accountability.
• Stakeholder meetings and engagements to promote policy reforms and transparency in service delivery.
• Advocating for inclusive governance in poverty alleviation programs through community participation and oversight initiatives.
• Conducting leadership and human rights education to build informed and active citizens.
• Promoting community participation and inclusion in governance and decision-making processes.
• Supporting evidence-based, community-led advocacy and research for policy reforms.
• Integrating gender mainstreaming principles to promote equity and equality in governance.
• Networking and collaborating with stakeholders, including government agencies and non-profits, to promote legal protection and justice.
• Enhancing transparency and accountability through civic education initiatives to promote good governance and active citizen participation.
